Life is a constant struggle, filled with the body trying to find a balance within it all. On a daily basis, at any given moment, a sudden increase or decrease of certain hormones can spell certain disaster for any individual physically. Whether male or female, it ultimately comes down to keeping three main hormones in-line. The hormonal trinity is Testosterone, Estrogen, and DHT.
Testosterone being the most well-known player in the game (you can read our previous post on improving testosterone thru supplementation
here) and has the ability to shape shift via mechanisms such as aromatase (conversion to estrogen/estradiol) and 5-alpha reductase (DHT). Testosterone alone has mild anabolic/androgenic properties as it stands, however the conversion into any of the other compounds changes its stance radically. The key is keeping all three in harmony with each other without having a spillover effect.
You may ask what symptoms could arise with such spillover effects? Listed below are common side effects from hormonal imbalance.
Excessive DHT:
-Prostate health decline (pain, swelling, trouble urinating)
-Hair loss
Excessive Estrogen/E2 (estradiol)
-Lowered libido
-Breast tissue growth
-Water retention
Simple blood work performed regularly with your doctor can certainly keep you informed as to where you stand whether or not

Testosterone, part of the hormonal trinity
the symptoms are noticeable. We highly recommend that everyone has blood pulled at the MINIMUM of semi-annually to be aware of what their body could be telling them. This includes both MEN AND WOMOEN, plus goes beyond just testosterone/estrogen/DHT, but will also bring light to your cholesterol totals, liver enzymes, thyroid function, etc. This can be done at many locations, however we would like to personally recommend Malea Jensen of Center Stage Primary Care, as her results come extremely thorough and can be accompanied by a consultation to discuss your options pending.
